Art And The Past, What Art Means To Me

I thought I would create a platform for myself to talk about, display and also allow others to share some of their artwork. It can be anything from photography, to sculpture, but to me it all boils down to the same thing, expression.

I’ve loved art since I was a child, doodling in my notepad at school, even on my text books. I always looked to improve or personalise some of the bland, mundane school inventory. I bought myself some oil paints and a giant sketchpad in my teens and began my journey into the world of self expression. I still look back at some of the original paintings I did with fond memory, in fact I will put a post up about them in the future. I’m sure it will be interesting to see what people think as well as being a great way to archive some of my older paintings.

But Art means more to me than just fond memories of the past. Art shows my gradual transition from who I was, to who I am today. The paint flows through my veins and the images seep from me onto the canvas, or sketchpad as it was all those 30 years ago. Painting is also a great was to release my negative emotions without causing confrontation or argument. I enjoy painting when I’m happy too, the outcomes can differ significantly.

Writing this post has actually given me a great idea, stay tuned for more updates.
